Zinc is a reactive metal with a blue-grey colour that will wear and age over time. As a result of the treatment given to the metal, each piece has a unique pattern. Imperfections are to be expected and add to the rustic charm of the furniture. Although the final pattern is unpredictable, we can achieve different shades of patina by applying different levels of treatment.

Zinc is fairly easy to maintain and can be cleaned with any non-abrasive household cleaner. To protect the zinc as much as possible use trivets, coasters and placemats for hot objects. Also ensure that all spillages are wiped quickly to avoid watermarks and rings. If the items are going to be used outdoors then the appearance of the zinc will change and weather more quickly. To slow this process, use outdoor furniture covers. We can apply a protective lacquer to the zinc, but this will only slow the ageing process not prevent it completely.
